Who qualifies for an e-visa for Turkey?

This information is for travellers using a full ‘British Citizen’ passport. The tourists and business travellers with such a passport are British nationals and they need a visa to enter Turkey. If you have a British Citizen passport and you are on a cruise ship that arrives at the seaports of Turkye to visit the port city and the visit doesn’t exceed the 72 hours it isn’t necessary to request an e- visa. You also don’t need an e- visa if you stay on board of the cruise ship. If you’re cruise starts in Turkye and you have to fly from the UK to Turkye then you need an e- visa. If you arrive with your cruise ship at a harbour and you travel further to another city you also need an e- visa.

If you have another type of British nationality ( British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person or British Subject) than control the requirements you must meet with the Turkish Consulate before you travel. These  passports are classified as ‘UK Special Passports’. You need to apply a visa from the Turkish Consulate General.

Children must always be in possession of their own visa for Turkey. If you leave Turkye with a child who has a dual British- Turkish nationality you need evidence that the Turkish parents have given permission to travel with the child.
The e-visa for Turkey is suitable for tourist and business travel to Turkey. The tourist trip is the holiday trip or the trip for visiting friends or family. With a business trip to Turkey you can visite corporate customers or suppliers or you can participate in training or visiting a Conference. When you want to work in Turkye  an e-visa is not the right document for you. More info on a visa when you want to work in Turkey can be found on our page about the working permit.
